LOUDOUN COUNTY

  • Alternative Septic System inspections due by July 1, 2010

FAIRFAX COUNTY

  • Alternative Septic System maintenance required annually
  • Flow Diversion Valves turned and effluent filters cleaned annually Conventional Septic System Tanks cleaned every five years

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY

  • Alternative Septic System maintenance required annually
  • Conventional Septic System Tanks cleaned every five years

FAUQUIER COUNTY

  • Alternative Septic System maintenance required annually

Effective July 1, 2009 New State Laws require alternative septic systems to be maintained in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations or local ordinance whichever is stricter. In addition, Counties within the Chesapeake Bay Area require conventional septic systems to be pumped or inspected every five years. New civil penalty regulations allow the Health Department to fine violators.

Regular maintenance of conventional and alternative septic tank systems along with the proper use of your septic tank system will not only help assure that your system is functioning correctly but also helps assure our streams, rivers and ultimately the Chesapeake Bay watershed is protected.
